You had me at Malibu.

A while back, JC and I spotted this timeless little hotel along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu called The Native. We were both intrigued at its simplicity, almost hidden location, and its nod to mid-century modern style. Because we also do house renovations, we are always on the lookout for design inspiration.  So, out of curiosity, we enjoyed a one-night stay in this little piece of paradise. Everything was perfect- the bed linens, the deck outfitted with a hammock, and even the brass key chain that had hidden sage tucked inside. If you're visiting LA, or live here and just need a little therapeutic R&R, this is your place.

That's What-She Shed

I'll admit it. I'm in love with a She Shed. A few weeks back, JC and I had the opportunity to attend the unveiling of this She Shed designed by Justina Blakeney (The New Bohemians, The Jungalow). Partnering with Santa Magherita wine company, the event was held at Mar Vista Art Department-which was a design feast in itself-I felt as if I had somehow stepped into a page from The New Bohemians. We were guests, and not official photographers, so I got the best detail photos possible while everyone rightly swooned over the structure completely crafted from recycled, repurposed materials. There were creative stations set up throughout the space including a watercolor station and a place to create your very own terrarium. If you know me, you are aware of my love affair with succulents, so you can guess which station I chose. In addition, we taste tested some refreshing Santa Margherita Cocktail recipes such as "Pomegranate Sparkler" and a "Rose all Day". Can I get a "yum"? This is one of the many things I love about LA- the opportunity to participate in such events that celebrate and spark creativity. Enjoy these photos while I get back to building my own She Shed!
