That's What-She Shed

I'll admit it. I'm in love with a She Shed. A few weeks back, JC and I had the opportunity to attend the unveiling of this She Shed designed by Justina Blakeney (The New Bohemians, The Jungalow). Partnering with Santa Magherita wine company, the event was held at Mar Vista Art Department-which was a design feast in itself-I felt as if I had somehow stepped into a page from The New Bohemians. We were guests, and not official photographers, so I got the best detail photos possible while everyone rightly swooned over the structure completely crafted from recycled, repurposed materials. There were creative stations set up throughout the space including a watercolor station and a place to create your very own terrarium. If you know me, you are aware of my love affair with succulents, so you can guess which station I chose. In addition, we taste tested some refreshing Santa Margherita Cocktail recipes such as "Pomegranate Sparkler" and a "Rose all Day". Can I get a "yum"? This is one of the many things I love about LA- the opportunity to participate in such events that celebrate and spark creativity. Enjoy these photos while I get back to building my own She Shed!

Fashion District: A Look Inside

I'll have to admit that today, I kinda felt like a kid on a school field trip-as if an elementary school field trip would ever consist of a tour in LA's Fashion District. JC and I were so privileged to get a peek into "up and coming clothing designer to watch" - Su Kim's "Father's Daughter" specialty denim design studio.  I'll have to admit, my breath was taken away the minute we opened up the door. There is no doubt that creativity ricochets around the light-filled space. We first met Su back in October of last year at Mosaic. She was one of the first people that made us feel that we actually could make a home in LA. One of the most positive people I know- when she speaks, she sprays gold...Of course, we finished the tour around the corner at trendy Terroni's Italian Eatery. You haven't lived until you've had their Funghi Assoluti. We sat right next to the most beautiful Fiddle Leaf Fig I've seen. (not pictured.) Thank you, Su Kim for taking the time to show us a little taste of Eden. I CANNOT wait until you launch your brand and see what is in store for you!

Santa Barbara Walking Tour

Had an amazing couple of days in Santa Barbara. Our visit was initially wedding related, but one stroll down State Street turned it into a design feast for the eyes. First stop was the Wolf's Head Barber Shop. Each chair seemed to have it's own unique story to tell. It's old-school Americana charm with the latest men's fashion trends had the husband drooling.  Just a few steps away was "India House" which is actually just a restaurant, but the rainbow of colors made me stop for a minute. Secretly, I wanted to chill on the floor and eat food with my hands like I imagine was in a scene from Eat, Pray, and Love. I almost hid in the showroom of Raoul's Textiles because I wanted to live there, and I was pretty sure they'd not be keen on it.  The rest of the pics are from galleries, antique/flea market type stores and the Santa Barbara Public Market.  Chew on the textures, door colors, the walls that strangely resemble pallets, or the carefully curated things on an outdoor deck, and maybe incorporate some of these elements into your own space.
